Eco-Friendly Restaurants and Shops in San Francisco
by Jaclyn Abergas April 28th, 2009 | Easy Ideas, Outdoor Ideas, Shopping, WebsitesCongratulations on living green! It's not easy to practice this lifestyle in modern times. In fact, what makes it harder is the loss of control outside your own home. It's easy enough to do it inside the house because you can control all the factors needed. You can segregate your own trash, grow your own food, reduce and reuse things and limit use of electricity.
But what about when you shop or eat out?
The bad news is that not a lot of shops and restaurants practice a green lifestyle just yet.
The good news is that there are places that contribute to
Turning CO2 into Something Useful
by Bea April 21st, 2009 | Pollution
My jaw dropped to the floor in disbelief the other day. A person in one of my lectures actually had the nerve to speak up and say, "Nothing that we can do could save our world." He then continued to tell us about how there was no way that we could reverse what we have done to the ozone later and that there was no way or process to turn CO2 into something usable. Okay, okay, first of all, studies have been done to show that we have started to prevent, and even reverse, the depletion of the ozone layer.
Climate Counts

Recently when I was volunteering at a race that was going green, I came across some informational displays, and on them I saw names of familiar companies such as Burger King, Starbucks, Nike, and eBay. Intrigued, I took some time to learn about the sponsor of the stand: ClimateCounts.org.
The name Climate Counts has two meanings: 1. The climate matters. 2.The Website is keeping a count of how well popular companies are performing on an environmentally-friendly scale.
Climate Counts uses a 0-to-100 point scale and four major categories (review, reduce, policy stance, and report) to rate how green a company's operations are. They are scored on how well

Sunshine Powered Cars
by Bea April 7th, 2009 | Easy Ideas, Recycle, Transportation Tips
One of the ways that we're trying to save the world is by trying to create and use cars that run on alternative sources of energy. Whether that energy be derived from electricty, diesel, solar power, or something else, we want to encourage making the world a healthier place. Well, in the Sunshine State of the United States (that is Florida for those of you who did not know that), they are setting up a solar electric vehicle charging station.
