Can You Tax People Green?

by Jessica B. February 21st, 2012 | Environmental News
While the European Union (EU) is a vast and diverse place, many of the countries there have been using taxes, for many years, as a way to stimulate green behavior. By this I mean they have high taxes on products, such as gasoline and airline travel, as a way to get people to naturally limit their own carbon emissions.

Recently the EU extended this taxation policy to flights from other nations in and out of the area. American, Chinese, and Indian airlines are fuming at the increased costs and have taken the EU to court.

Keystone XL Myths

by Heather Duchan January 30th, 2012 | Environmental News
President Obama rejected a permit for the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline this month, citing that there was not enough review time to make a decision. As demonstrated at the show, the ecoATM offers what selling on eBay or using mail-in electronic recycling programs do, but with instant gratification. Simply locate one of these eCycling kiosks, drop in your used mobile phone or mp3 player, and wait a moment to see how much the machine will

by Heather Duchan January 2nd, 2012 | Environmental News
A Federal court ruled in favor of power companies and many Republicans on Friday, putting the implementation of a new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rule on hold.

The Cross-State Air Pollution Rule, finalized by the EPA in July, requires 27 eastern states in the United States to begin reducing power plant emissions on January 1, 2012. The rule is an implementation of Clear Air Act goals that reduce nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide from air crossing state lines.

Earlier in the year, Republicans tried to block the rule through legislation. The party succeeded in the House, but were over-ruled in the
