I agree that education is key. There is no point in creating a mission if you can't get everyone to pitch in and make that little difference. I am a full believer in striving towards green organizations. It's not necessary to be a radical, but every little effort helps!

At first I thought they're going to bring those old satellites down to Earth and strip them for gold and other precious metals :) That would make it a though business because even if gold reaches $2000/oz, it would still not justify the cost of the recycling mission.

But if they're planning to reuse parts of old satellites, it just changes this business from tough to lunacy! Since there's little standardization and no concern for reuse whatsoever among the satellites, especially the old ones, I would love to see that robotic vehicle trying to detach an antenna and then figure out what connector to use to re-attach it to a different craft!

I personally hate plastic, and long for a return to the days of fewer possessions but higher quality ones. But, lest we forget, plastic is merely the modern alternative to cheap tin.

[...] After spending Saturday afternoon transforming canning tomatoes into salsa, we were left with several cups of spicy tomato juice. Rather than watering down our salsa or throwing the juice away, I saved it in hopes of incorporating it into dinner. Last night’s dinner was Make Your Own Salsa Soup, which aligned itself with Steps to Reduce Food Waste.
A habit I learned from my father: as the man of the house, I make it my responsibility to make sure that as little food gets wasted as possible. That means eating leftovers no one else really wants and cooking some odd meals from time to time (to use up an ingredient nearing its expiration date), but it does drastically cut down on the waste.

I cannot wait for plastic to go out of style and use. I know I'll be paying more for many things, but I just absolutely hate it. To me, it symbolizes the cheap-o consumer culture we have these days.

Hey Mike,

I'm no expert, but I will try to give you my best input.
As for reusable water bottles with customized labels/designs, you could check out a few companies like:
-http://www.customink.com/custom/custom-bottles.htm
-http://www.cafepress.com/make/custom-water-bottles
and much much more.

There is also something called the Planet Bottle, but I don't believe that this is can be customized. It's really cool though, it's a plastic bottle that biodegrades on its own after 2 years. http://www.theplanetbottle.net/

I guess it must've worked if you *felt* cooler, though it seems to me doing so would've let in more warm air as well. 80 deg must be pleasant; I run mine at 75 or so, but just until the room cools down, and then it's back to the fan :D
