Donate for a Healthier Planet
by Mackenzie M. February 2nd, 2012 | 30 Second Tip
One of the easiest ways to green your lifestyle is to get into the habit of donations. Although monetary donations are great, donating material goods can often be far better for the Earth. Consider donating used furniture items, clothes, general household items, reusable water bottles, and even cars to disaster relief areas. This way, rather than putting a bigger burden on manufacturers and natural resources to make and transport new items, the donated items reuse materials, taking out the waste of new materials. Even something as simple as sending reusable water bottles to disaster areas removes the need for

by Heather Duchan January 13th, 2012 | travel
The environmental protection organization, Earth Island Institute, compiles a report each year of the 10 Most Ethical Travel Destinations in undeveloped counties.
This report comes after careful analysis of all developing countries throughout the world with special attention on practices regarding environmental preservation and sustainability as well as human rights. Plan an Eco-Friendly Valentine’s Day

I wouldn’t fault retailers for their fervor, as the occasion results in millions of dollars being spent on gifts that probably wouldn’t outlast the romance. Flowers are one such example, albeit really nice-looking examples.
As with other occasions during which consumption is most conspicuous, consumers should know that there are a number of ideas that can be adopted to ensure that this year’s Valentine’s Day is not only romantic and memorable, but green as well.

Eco-Friendly Roach Control
by Mackenzie M. September 15th, 2011 | 30 Second Tip
Cockroaches can plague older homes and apartments, especially in the warm southern climates. They can be especially troubling around dumpsters, recycling bins, or compost piles. There are ways to prevent infestations. Caulk the large (and even the smaller) cracks in your kitchen or sunroom to prevent roaches from entering. Be sure to rinse out cans and bottles before they are placed in the recycling bin. Also, sprinkle baking soda around your compost pile and/or recycling bin. These eco-friendly tactics can deter the peskiest roaches.
